Distribution modelling of mountain endemic species of the Balkans peninsula
Rataj, Jakub ; Smyčka, Jan (advisor) ; Man, Matěj (referee)
Endemism is a biogeographical phenomenon where a taxon is restricted to a certain area and does not occur elsewhere. The study of the ranges of such taxa may provide new insights into their evolutionary history or the history of the locality where they are currently found. In the European context, mountainous areas are more interesting from this point of view, because they are characterized by a higher degree of endemism than the adjacent lowlands. One method how to effectively describe the range of an endemic species is species distribution models, SDMs. Based on these models, we are able to quantify the relationships between species and environmental components or predict the occurrence of species to new spatial and temporal locations. The resulting models have the potential to be incorporated into a wide range of other studies. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to summarize the issues involved in this type of ecological modeling in the context of mountain endemic plants. Emphasis is placed on the individual specifics of the biological and environmental data used for this purpose and on the analysis of the different statistical methods and furthermore on the characterization of endemic taxa of the Balkan Peninsula, which should be the focus of a follow-up thesis.
The Belt and Road - Is China moving towards the centre of international trade? Assessment of impact on Balkans and Central Europe using network and gravity analysis
Reinštein, Jakub ; Semerák, Vilém (advisor) ; Komárek, Luboš (referee)
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a potentially world-changing Chinese economic and geopolitical strategy. In this thesis Gravity Model of Trade (GMT) and Network analysis are employed to assess the relative position of China in the International Trade Network (ITN), the overall impact of BRI, and its effect on countries in Central Eastern Europe and Western Balkans grouped in 17+1 mechanism. The results from Network analysis indicate that since the 1990s China is gradually moving towards the center of ITN. Subnetwork of BRI countries also exhibits higher cohesion and resilience to external shocks than ITN. GMT identified BRI as a significant and positive factor influencing exports, however in case of 17+1 mechanism countries the results are not robust. GMT was also successfully experimentally augmented with Network analysis variables demonstrating its possible enhancements and showing the path for further research. Ignát Hořica: Austrian Officer on the slavonic South.
HAVLÍČEK, Filip
This bachelor thesis is focused on Ignát Hořica and his literature. It is an incomplete monology - complete monology would be over the criteria the bachelor thesis. This thesis is divided to two parts - theoretical (biography), and practical (interpretation of Hořica's war themed literature, and literature of other themes of his literature). Due to lack of the society's interest is my thesis only a summary of the basic articles - the original intention was also comparing of war stories in Bosnia by different authors of the same genre, but even this part would be over the criteria of the bachelor thesis.

Hromas, Adam ; Tejchman, Miroslav (advisor) ; Litera, Bohuslav (referee)
The task of the bachelor work "The impact of the war in Kosovo on the relationship of Russia amd the USA" is to answer through comparative analysis the issue of what impact the war in Kosovo had on the American-Russian relationship or possibly to eradicate this impact. The text deals with the policies of the USA and Russia in the context of the Kosovo war, not as a historic event. It is divided into three chapters: The first chapter describes the attitude of NATO, especially of the USA toward Serbia mainly regarding policies toward Serbia prior to, and during the war, and political activities ending the war. In the second chapter there are the same topics seen from the view of Russia toward Serbia. In the third and last chapter there is comparing of these two approaches going on, and based on it the final position to the main issue of the research is worked out.
Motivating Factors for Radicalization in Balkan Muslim-Majority Countries
Vlk, Jonáš ; Aslan, Emil (advisor) ; Kuľková, Miroslava (referee)
The topic of religious radicalization in the Balkans is gaining attention among academia in recent years. However, motivational factors of radicalization in the region still remain rather under-researched. Furthermore, comprehensive research focusing particularly on the motivational factors of Islamist radicalization in the Muslim-majority countries of the Balkans - countries with a specific context and background unique in the wider Europe - hasn't been yet carried out. This paper thus elaborates on the motivational factors of radicalization in the Muslim-majority countries of the Balkans, which is Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Kosovo, by applying generally-known factors of radicalization to this specific theatre. Predominantly secondary sources as well as documents issued by the OSCE which maintains field presence in all of the abovementioned countries are utilized in order to provide a thorough overview of motivational factors of radicalization in each of the selected countries. These are discussed respectively in corresponding chapters. Individual chapters are in dialogue with each other following the same methodology and structure, focusing on similar issues. A comprehensive overview of the motivational factors of radicalization in Balkan Muslim-majority countries is thus presented. Applying the...
Normative power as a Source of EU Peacebuilding: Diffusion of Normative Power Europe in the Western Balkans
Petrlová, Eva ; Střítecký, Vít (advisor) ; Ditrych, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis aims to interconnect a theory of normative power Europe with the activities of the EU and its affect on the Western Balkans. The theoretical concept of normative power is based on the assumption of the EU as a normative actor who is able through its norms, values and principles to become a major civilian actor in international relations, especially in the area of conflict management. The theoretical part of the paper therefore focuses on the concept of normative power EU (NPE) as it is presented by Ian Manners, and how its normative character is reflected in the common security and defense policy. It is analysed how the NPE is diffused in selected countries of the Western Balkans through four chosen transfer mechanisms by Manners that comprise the operationalization of the thesis at the same time. Therefore the aim of this work is to contribute to the further broadening the debate over the EU's role in the international system, but also to find out how the norms and values are transmitted in selected countries of the near neighborhood - Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Kosovo. All of this with regard to democracy, human and minority rights, peaceful settlement of disputes, good governance etc., which encompass the basic values of the EU. The selected operationalization has allowed...
